Who is this Mark Osgood bloke anyway? Who am I? I am originally from Portsmouth, and I went to school at St John’s College in Southsea. Having left the area to go to university and law school, I returned to work for a local firm of solicitors. I moved to London in 1997 and in the real world, I work as a solicitor for a City law firm. At home, I am a big sports fan, and regularly play football, golf and squash. In fact, I will watch any sport, but my big passion is Portsmouth Football Club – I’m going to miss their push for the Premiership in 2002-2003. Play up, Pompey! So why am I giving up my job and sailing off round the world for a year? Someone once said that those who have to ask will never understand, whilst those who understand will never have to ask. In case you do have to ask, for me, it’s the opportunity to learn how to sail (there must be easier ways!), the opportunity to race around the world whilst stopping every so often to take a closer look and, ultimately, the challenge of a lifetime. Anyway, that’s me. I hope you enjoy this diary of my journey round the world. Satellite technology permitting, I shall update the diary every couple of days. Please feel free to email your comments or greetings to me at mark@markosgood.co.uk and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. |
